The ukulele is a brilliant little instrument that I started playing on my recent travels to the Hawaiian Islands. Tiff’s younger brother had a couple lying around his closet, and was gracious enough to lend me one for the year. As like most kids growing up in Hawaii, Tiff and her brother were required to take ukulele when they were in school — much cooler than the recorder I was forced to awkwardly blow into in elementary school! You can find ukuleles everywhere in Hawaii, and often here people strumming them on the beach or as part of a street performance in Waikiki. I love the uke’s simplicity and portability, and unlike a guitar, can be brought as a carry on during any flight.

This is my favourite song that uses the ukulele:

Tiff is a very beautiful ukulele player!
