Last Thursday was Labor Thanksgiving Day in Japan, so three friends and I went on a 10 kilometer hike through Chomonkyo Gorge. During this season, you are able to see the leaves changing colours. We were able to see quite a lot of leaves along the river as we hiked. The fall colours were beautiful and the weather was favorable.

On the trail, there were a lot friendly fellow hikers, and every time we passed them everyone would say “Hello.” At one point, when we were taking a break, a hiker asked my friend “Where are you from?” and my friend replied “America.” Then, the other hiker replied “Please say hi to Obama!” as he walked the other way. We chuckled.

The Chomonkyo River looks like a lot of fun to swim in, so next summer before I move to Hawaii, I plan to go swimming there. The river is deep and a perfect place for a swim.

Yamaguchi Prefecture has a lot of breathtaking nature, so you should absolutely consider visiting here!
